Chincoteague Oyster Festival

Where: Tom’s Cove Park, 8128 Beebe Road, Chincoteague, Virginia

When: Oct. 12, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Get ready to road trip. You’ll find oysters (steamed, raw, frittered, fried), shrimp cocktail, clam fritters, clam chowder, hush puppies and boardwalk fries at this outdoor fest on Chincoteague Island. Rock band Island Boy will provide the tunes, and patrons are welcome to cut a rug if they choose. Also consider packing some streamers and twinkle lights—there’s an award for Best Place/Space. Tickets $45 (does not include alcoholic beverages). Age 5 and under free.
