D.C.’s Winter Restaurant Week kicks off January 13, with most participating kitchens offering prix-fixe lunches for $22 and dinners for $35. Some places are offering special brunch menus, too, and a few are extending their discounts an extra week, through Jan. 26. Below are just a few of the spots we’re tempted to visit on the Virginia side of the Potomac. For a complete list of participating restaurants, go to ramw.org/restaurantweek.
Jaleo Crystal City
The tapas alone are worth the trip to Jaleo, but they’re made even more appetizing by the fact that Jaleo founder, restaurateur and humanitarian José Andrés and his World Central Kitchen were recently back in Puerto Rico, serving more than 12,000 free meals to earthquake victims. Jaleo’s 5-course Restaurant Week menu includes everything from seared salmon a la plancha with butternut squash purée to crowd favorites like patatas bravas (fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce and aioli) and gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp). //2250 Crystal Drive, Arlington (Crystal City)
