Twisted Vines Offers Discounts to Teachers, First Responders

The happy hour deal will continue indefinitely, restaurateur Tony Wagner says.

Twisted Vines, the Columbia Pike bistro and wine bar, recently began offering a break for Arlington County teachers and first responders – 5 percent off their bill during happy hour.

Happy hour runs weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There is no separate menu, but dishes are $2 off the regular price. Teachers get the additional 5 percent discount on Mondays; first responders on Tuesdays.

The perk is available to educators who teach at public or private schools, says restaurateur Tony Wagner, and to first responders including local police, firefighters, EMTs, physicians, nurses and members of the military. Qualifying customers need only show a workplace ID.

One of the partners in Twisted Vines was a trauma nurse for 30 years, Wagner says, and his own mother was a librarian at a public elementary school.

Teachers and first responders, “are the ones who keep us safe, who educate our children,” he says. “They’re the building blocks that create the environment that Arlington is, why we love being here.”

Cheers to that.
