Stellina Pizzeria is the real deal. That’s according to 50 Top Pizza, an Italian guide to the best pizzerias worldwide, which recognized the DMV chainlet as one of its 50 best in 2024.
“This award is a testament to the passion and hard work of our entire team,” says co-owner Antonio Matarazzo, who founded and runs the business with chef Matteo Venini. “…Our mission has always been to bring the authentic essence of Italian pizza to our guests. We are honored to be included among such distinguished pizza artisans from around the globe.”
Stellina’s five area locations include eateries in Shirlington and Tysons, as well as a pop-up inside the Rosslyn food hall Upside on Moore.
Matarazzo and Venini refer to their pies as “neo-Neapolitan,” meaning they use the traditional style as a jumping-off point, but take some liberties with the fermentation process, toppings and ingredients.
The Michelin-recognized restaurant is the second pizzeria in Arlington to earn an accolade from 50 Top Pizza. A Modo Mio was named among the organization’s “Best in the U.S.” in 2023.
In addition to pizza, Stellina’s menu mainly focuses on the flavors of Rome and southward, with dishes like Roman fried artichokes, pastas and a panino stacked with fried octopus, burrata cheese, Calabrian peppers and broccoli rabe.
An on-site market counter in the Shirlington and Tysons locations features house-made pizza dough, pastas, sauces, meats, cheeses and other Italian pantry staples to take home.
Stellina is located at 2800 S. Randolph St. in The Village at Shirlington and 1610 Capital One Drive, Tysons. Find the pop-up counter with a more limited menu at 1700 N. Moore St. in Upside on Moore (Rosslyn).
