Several local grocery stores offer their own in-house delivery options, along with deals that make deliveries free if you spend a certain amount per trip. Giant’s Peapod  and Safeway’s in-house service each offer free delivery and $20 off your first order.
Peapod was the first e-commerce grocer when it launched in Illinois in 1989. The brand was purchased by AHOLD, which runs Giant stores in Northern Virginia, and expanded to homes in the region in 2001. If you like Giant’s products, its online shopping process is more seamless than having a personal shopper wander the aisles on your behalf.
