Make it a Formal Affair
That formal gown and tux are just sitting in your closet with nothing to do. Why not get gussied up and bust out the white tablecloth?  Neighborhood Restaurant Group (whose D.C.-area restaurants include Hazel, Iron Gate, Birch & Barley, Rustico, Evening Star, B Side and others) is offering a weekly three-course date night menu for two, each created by a different chef. This week’s romantic repast is a vegetable-focused Turkish feast orchestrated by Hazel executive chef Robert Curtis. (Place an order between 11 a.m. Monday and 5 p.m. Thursday for delivery on Saturday by 5 p.m.) In similar fashion, 2941 Restaurant has pivoted to carry-out and is offering a three-course meals at home menu featuring entrees such as Elysian Fields Farm Leg of Lamb and Creekstone Farm Filet Mignon. Chef Bertrand Chemel’s tantalizing sides include choices like haricots verts with shallot confit, and potato gratin with gruyère, plus crème brûlée or chocolate cake for dessert.
Head to the Theater
Need an escape? Arlington’s Synetic Theater is currently streaming its production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s timeless tale of love and mistaken identity (now through April 30), with a “pay what you can” option. Let the actors transport you to a magical forest where the bard’s immortal words blend with the supernatural. Bonus: You can hit pause for an intermission whenever you want and refresh your drink.
