Need a Quarantine Date Night?

Here are a few ideas for creating a special evening at home.

If you are riding this out at home with a partner, date night can still be a thing. Many restaurants are serving special-occasion-worthy takeout meals, and you can heighten the ambiance with candles from ISO Candles (30% off with code 30SALE), linens and flower bouquets from Botanologica (DM for orders and local delivery) or a spring arrangement from Company Flowers.  And don’t forget, Virginia has approved beer, wine, and now mixed drinks for delivery or takeout. If you need a fun couple’s project, we’ve got some of those here, too.

Bring on the Bubbly

Ms. Peacock’s Champagne Lounge is offering a shareable dessert and bottle of sparkling wine for $50—including free delivery on Friday or Saturday nights (pick-up available in Clarendon on other nights). Sweet options include cannolis or lemon bars and brownies. Each order includes two champagne flutes, plus a coupon for a free cocktail as soon as Ms. Peacock’s re-opens for on-site imbibing.

Get Comfy and Creative

Plan a fun evening for two with comfort food from Dogwood Tavern in Falls Church and an art class. Dogwood’s couples menu includes a 1/2 rack of smoked ribs, fried chicken and sides (including sriracha-honey dipping sauce), plus a homemade brownie sundae for $30. Add a quart of house sangria for $10 or a bottle of wine for $15. Craft beer samplers, growler fills and cocktail kits are also available. Once you’ve loosened up with a beverage or two, make some art.  Try one of the online art classes or make-at-home projects from Arlington Arts Center.  Alternately, Muse Paint Bar in Mosaic is offering full painting kits and video instruction.
