Pi Day runs circles around other math-related celebrations. A nationally recognized day since the House passed a resolution in 2009 making it so, March 14 celebrates the mathematical constant π, a never-ending number that starts with 3.14. In math, pi represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Pi Day is also a great excuse to celebrate with pies, which, it’s worth noting, are typically round. Get them at these local bakeries and restaurants.

Acme Pie Co.
Pastry chef Sol Schott says all slices eaten onsite will be sold for $3.14 on March 14. Made in small batches with fresh, seasonal and local ingredients, the pies have handmade crusts and come in 12-15 sweet flavors, plus a few savory ones, too. Options include key lime, coconut custard, vegan apple and chocolate chess. // 2803 Columbia Pike, Arlington

On Pi Day, get a free cup o’ joe when you purchase a slice of owner Justin Stegall’s signature icebox pies. They come in sweet flavors such as Coconut Cream, Hot Chocolate, Key Lime, PB Nutella and Baileys Irish Cream, a new seasonal offering. Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery
Who says you have to share? Chef David Guas‘ New Orleans cafe in Courthouse will have personal pies—otherwise available only for July Fourth—to celebrate Pi Day. The 5-inchers come in flavors such as Lemon Icebox, Salty Pecan and Adams County Apple, and cost $10 on March 14. // 1515 N. Courthouse Road, Arlington (Courthouse)

The Happy Tart
New owner Kerrigan Firth took over this Little City bakery on March 1 and is celebrating Pi Day with deals on a chicken pot pie ($38) and apple pie ($40), both topped with the symbol of the day. Order one March 7-12 to pick up March 13-15. The business may have changed hands, but Firth offers assurances that the baking operation is still gluten-free: “We are committed to keeping it that way.” // 410 S. Maple Ave., Falls Church

Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe
This 50-year-old Bavarian bakery, a 2025 Best of Arlington winner, has had plenty of time to perfect its pies. Stop by the family-owned business on March 14 and taste the evidence yourself. Chocolate mousse counts among the most popular pie flavors, though other equally-tempting options include banana cream, Boston cream, Linzer and rhubarb. Prices range from $19.95-$28.95. // 2150 N.
