“It’s hard to explain, but you have to be a certain kind of person to pull off ordering an Old Fashioned,” says one of the barkeeps at Evening Star Cafe in Del Ray. “When younger guys come in and are clearly on a first date and order one…in my head I’m like ‘Aw, honey. Did you just turn 21? Enjoy your hangover.’ But then the other night this woman came in and she was writing in a moleskin notebook when she ordered one and I was like ‘Damn. She’s cool as hell.'”
