Napoli Salumeria
Pentagon Row (recently rebranded as Westpost) has a new Italian market stocked with grab-and-go salads, panini, pizzas, gelati and Neapolitan favorites like rigatoni ragu, lasagna and gnocci. It’s essentially a takeout extension of owner Antonio Ferraro’s Napoli Pasta Bar in the District’s Columbia Heights neighborhood. Love the decorative, hand-painted, Amalfi Coast-inspired plates? You can buy those, too. Opened: Nov. 10. // 1301 S. Joyce St., Arlington (Westpost)
Colony Grill
The 85-year-old Stamford, Connecticut-based pizza chain specializes in ultra-thin-crust “bar pies” with a spicy, pepper-infused hot-oil topping. Gluten-free crust is an option. As is tradition in all Colony locations, the Market Common tavern features a “Wall of Heroes” showcasing photos (submitted by customers) of local veterans and first-responders. Opened: Oct. 14. // 2800 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington (Clarendon)
World of Beer
Filling the former Ted’s Montana Grill space, the beer emporium features 40 taps and a rotating roster of hundreds of brews, from Bud Lite to session IPAs, sour ales and doppelbocks. Incidentally, there’s food too—German soft pretzels, sandwiches, bowls, flatbreads and rib-stickers like pork schnitzel and ribeye steak. And patio seating and brunch. Opened: Oct. 5. // 4300 Wilson Blvd., Suite 130, Arlington (Ballston)
Eclairons
Fans of pastry chef Toni Srour’s Pastry Xpo Café Espresso Bar in the Mosaic District will be pleased to know that he recently unveiled a second café in the Colonial Village Shopping Center serving macarons, eclairs, cupcakes and other decadent French sweets, along with Illy coffee drinks, breakfast fare, sandwiches and quiche. Opened: Aug. 29. // 1737 Wilson Blvd., Arlington (Rosslyn)
