Sip These Zero-Proof Drinks During Dry January

Going alcohol-free this month? Mixologists are whipping up all kinds of crafty, booze-free beverages to whet your whistle.

Did you overdo it during the holidays? If so, you’re not alone. Two-thirds of Americans say they overindulge in food, and a third drink more alcohol than usual during the winter holiday season, according to a survey from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. As a sort of detox, a British organization called Alcohol Change UK launched the Dry January concept in 2012 to encourage people to avoid alcohol during the first month of the new year—a movement that has taken off. A quarter of Americans say they completed Dry January in 2024, according to CivicScience, an opinion analytics platform. If you’re feeling sober-curious this year, or you’re among the 38% of people who never have alcohol, these restaurants have just the mocktail for you.
