Nashville chicken, lobster tacos and artistic sushi join the local dining scene, and a new food hall is coming to the Eden Center.

Mae’s Market and Cafe

Modest Bread restaurant group has opened its second location of Mae’s in National Landing. (The first is in Alexandria.) Named after owner and chef Nicole Jones’ grandmother, it offers made-from-scratch baked goods, salads and gourmet sandwiches, plus cheese, wine and retail items. Signature dishes include the deep-dish quiche of the day ($16.50) and the Best Damn Turkey Sandwich ($17.50) with bacon, pimento cheese, greens, tomato and kewpie mayo on white bread. Raising Cane’s

The Falls Church outpost of this fried chicken joint opened to great fanfare—and long lines—in the Seven Corners Shopping Center. The Nashville-based chain has a cult following for its chicken fingers and fries, served with Cane’s Sauce. Combos with a drink run $9.99-$16.99. The latest spot joins other NoVa locations in Manassas and Sterling. Opened: Oct. 3. // 6363 Seven Corners Center, Falls Church

Umai Ramen and Donburi

Blending Japanese and Thai flavors, this women-owned restaurant offers 10 types of ramen, including Mazemen ($17), a brothless version with chopped chashu (pork belly) topped with seasoned egg, bok choi and other veggies. Other dishes include rice bowls such as salmon teriyaki ($20) and six versions of Japanese curry rice. Signature cocktails here include the Tokyo Drift ($15) with Suntory Toki Whisky, Royal Milk Tea, simple syrup, and grapefruit and lemon juices, and the Lychee Yuzu Sake ($12) with lychee sake, green grape soju, junmai sake, yuzu and Calpico. Find traditional favorites such as a tuna and avocado roll ($9.25) at this Clarendon newcomer occupying the former Endo Sushi space, along with signature rolls such as the Fufu ($12.50), a baked California roll topped with salmon, tempura crumbs, seaweed powder and a creamy sauce; and the Nemo ($14.95) with asparagus, cucumber, crunchy seaweed, masago and cream cheese topped with shrimp, avocado and wasabi sauce. One of several new concepts at the Tysons Galleria food hall, this is the first brick-and-mortar for the local food truck known for its smashburgers. Made with grass-fed, organic beef, the burgers come in three options: original with American cheese, lettuce, onion, pickle and Char’d sauce; hot with pickled jalapenos; and simple with just cheese. Another new concept at the Tysons Galleria food hall, this fast-casual spot has gourmet tacos stuffed with chicken, mushrooms, lamb, lobster or steak ($5-$14) and Mexican-inspired dishes. For $16 or less, get burritos, quesadillas, tortas and salads, all available with proteins or vegetarian. Accompany your meal with a signature drink such as the Jamaica ($5), made with fresh hibiscus flower infusion and a zest of orange, or the Horchata ($5), a rice-based drink with vanilla and cinnamon. Láylí Mediterranean

The recently opened Clarendon restaurant now offers weekend brunch. Dishes are available a la carte, or get three courses for $44.99, plus $1 brunch cocktails like a melon mimosa, classic mimosa or peach bellini. The Thompson Restaurants chainlet has a new fall menu with options such as a corn and jalapeno pizza, roasted chicken and butternut squash salad, and caramel apple lemonade with apple-infused vodka. The only Virginia location of this national chain is offering a new fall menu with all dishes clocking in at less than 600 calories each. Items include roasted wild Alaska “Butter Fish” served on wilted spinach and topped with ponzu broth ($28.50), roasted mushroom flatbread with goat cheese and truffle oil ($13.50), and a Pumpkin Pie Mini Indulgence made with pumpkin mousse, pumpkin cake, whipped cream and a ginger snap cookie ($4.50). // 7863 Tysons Corner Center, McLean

The Angie

A new concept from Balos Restaurant Group and For Five Coffee Roasters is coming to Virginia Square next spring. The 5,700-square-foot space will have a full-service bar, private dining room and alfresco dining options. The menu will offer traditional European dishes with an upscale American twist. This pasta house with forthcoming locations in Ballston and Tysons is headed by Executive Chef Roshan Ashiq, previously of Il Canale in Georgetown. Tatte Bakery & Café

The Boston-based bakery continues its Northern Virginia takeover with a spot opening soon in Falls Church’s Founders Row. Started by a self-taught cook, the popular cafe serves all-day breakfast dishes such as a Halloumi Sunny-Side Breakfast Sandwich on a challah roll, tartines with avocado and smoked salmon, and lamb hash with roasted garlic labneh. You can also find plates of shakshuka, salads, couscous bowls and sandwiches stuffed with short rib, roasted cauliflower, or prosciutto and fig. The drink menu includes a black sesame latte and lemon, thyme and espresso soda.
