The Toy Nest
This might be a name you don’t recognize—yet. The Toy Nest, a toy library where parents can rent small, medium and even large, ride-on toys and games for tots, was supposed to open its new brick-and-mortar store in downtown Falls Church in mid-March (you can guess how that worked out). Fortunately, owner Lisa Bourven isn’t letting COVID-19 completely ruin her plans. She’s giving parents the chance to purchase a toy rental membership online, pick out items from the store’s online catalog of 1000+ items, and have those toys delivered locally (within a 10-mile radius) Tuesdays-Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon. Super Bit
Here’s another area newcomer, located right next door to The Toy Nest, no less. Super Bit, which also had plans to fully open in March 2020, uses a buy-sell-trade model to circulate retro (80s, 90s, even early 2000s) video games and collectors’ items. For now, in-person visits to the space will have to wait, but you can schedule a virtual tour via Instagram video chat, and shop items posted to Super Bit’s Instagram page by direct messaging on Instagram (@superbitvideogames), emailing (superbitvideogames@gmail.com) or calling and paying over the phone (571-378-0500). Pacers Running Clarendon
One of the biggest complaints about online shopping is that there’s no way to know for sure whether your purchase will fit as it should. Pacers Running is offering virtual fittings to ensure that the kicks you order from its online store perform as intended. Appointments are held via Zoom, with measurements taken, gait and individual needs assessed, and, of course, products displayed and discussed. That whole process takes about 20-30 minutes. And extra time is allotted for Q&As with customers who are new to running.
