Named after the homestead of Revolutionary War hero ‘Light-Horse Harry’ Lee and serving as a haven for Dolley Madison when British troops were burning the White House, the Salona estate contains a 51-acre historic property, 41 acres of which are a protected conservation” says Compass’s Phillips. “The surrounding neighborhood, Salona Village, is situated within walking distance of downtown McLean. Buyers can find homes that were built many decades ago, as well as a gradual supply of stunning new construction.  In the past 12 months, homes for sale have commanded between $900,000 and $3.1 million.”
