McLean 5K: Run With The Warriors 2012

Thousands raised to build wounded warrior housing

More than $35,000 will go toward providing wounded warriors a comfortable place to live because of strong community support for the 2012 McLean 5K Run with the Warriors.

A total of 940 participants, including more than 20 wounded warriors, participated in the Saturday morning race that toured downtown McLean. The run raised more than double the amount of donations received in the previous year.

The race benefits the Wounded Warrior Transitional Housing Project, an initiative to renovate apartments that will serve as transitional housing for injured service members discharged from inpatient care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
