But the home’s biggest showstopper is arguably the custom carpentry that appears at every turn, from built-in cherry cabinets, decorative molding and wainscoting to solid-wood doors and window trim, all courtesy of Jerry Staley of Gerald C. Staley Builders in Round Hill, Virginia. On the top floor, a functional attic features a built-in window seat with a stained-glass panel that was recycled from a church.
The most recent renovations, completed in 2016, brought exterior upgrades including stone siding, a new front porch, octagonal stone planters, pergolas and a fountain.
“The final product exceeds expectations,” John says. Landscaping is scheduled for this spring. n
