Grab a water bottle, towel and maybe a yoga mat, and get your sweat on at these no-cost classes in and around America’s fittest city. Most of them take place outdoors, and all of them are open to all experience levels.

Arlington County Parks and Rec
Take a 45-minute, bodyweight-only Muscle Conditioning class as part of the parks and rec department’s drop-in fitness program. For instance, you can get pumped on Mondays at 12:15 p.m.at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center courts (3501 S. 2nd St., Arlington), Tuesdays at 9:15 a.m. at Lubber Run Community Center (300 N. Park Drive, Arlington) and Thursdays at Thomas Jefferson Community Center plaza at 5:30 p.m. Check the website for a link to monthly schedules. Here’s the one for April.
Ballston’s Spring in Your Step
The Ballston BID is offering 12 opportunities to try something new this month through its Spring in Your Step program. Upcoming events include rooftop yoga with a yogi from SPENGA on April 21, 5 p.m. and a free SweatBox class with VIDA Fitness April 27, 11 a.m. Complete a workout and you’ll get a surprise treat—think lunch deals and happy hour drinks—from Ballston eateries. Each time you register for one of the events, you’ll automatically be entered to win the grand prize: a three-month unlimited gym membership, personal training package and massage treatment from VIDA Fitness. // See website for locations

On the heels of the Falls Church Fitness Challenge, the Little City is hosting a big day of movement and friendly competition for all ages May 10, 1-4 p.m., at Roberts Park. This free outdoor, instructor-led series from DC Fray and the National Landing BID is back with classes Wednesdays, 8-9 a.m., at Met Park, now through May 21. New this year is a punch card program that nets you prizes the more workouts you do. Reserve a blank punch card from DC Fray and get one stamp for each class you take. Three stamps earns you a recycled aluminum water bottle; five yields a yoga mat; and eight rewards you with a gym bag and $50 gift card to Hustle Strength & Cycle Studio. The Plaza at Mason Square
Stop by the plaza at George Mason University’s Arlington campus for fitness and fun. Not only is this class free, but you can get get paid to stretch in Upside on Moore’s Marigold Room every other Wednesday from 7-8 a.m. Each attendee will leave feeling lengthened, calm and ready to spend the $5 gift card they can cash in at any the food hall’s vendors on the day of the class.
