Ballston FreshFarm Market

Located near the Metro station entrance, this Thursday market beckons commuters going to and coming from downtown Washington. (Think of it as a seasonal shift from Girl Scout cookie-selling season, when the Scouts usually set up a table at the top of the station’s escalator during the winter months.) The farmers market is open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and runs from April through October.

Location: 901 North Taylor St. (Welburn Square), Arlington

New this year: Wild Hare Cider, a micro-cidery crafting hard cider at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains; Bun’d Up, which sells Asian-style handmade buns; and Second Rising, offering several fresh breads with natural ingredients.
