Westover Farmers Market

This is the sixth year for the Sunday year-round market, located smack in the middle of Westover Village. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to noon; winter hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. “In some respects it’s an idea market for families with children,” says Rob Swennes, executive director at Field to Table, a nonprofit group that runs community-based farmers markets in Northern Virginia. “There’s a playground that, at most, is a five-minute walk. And donuts. Everyone wins.”

Location: 1644 N. McKinley Road, Arlington

New this year: New vendors include Fontino Family Catering of Falls Church, offering pasta, homemade sausage and hot paninis; Little Austria of Potomac Falls, Va., a European-style bakery selling strudel and other pastries; and Starstead Farm of Culpeper County,Va., which sells organic greens and mushrooms.
