Chiefs vs. Chefs 2013

This 2nd annual event, presented by the Arlington Food Assistance Center, featured a live cooking competition between firehouse cooks and local chefs.

Last week, the Arlington Food Assistance Center hosted its 2nd annual “Chiefs vs. Chefs” event. Close to 250 attendees witnessed this thrilling cooking competition which featured local chefs going toe-to-toe with Arlington firehouse cooks. The coveted golden eggplant was awarded to Chef David Guas from Bayou Bakery for the appetizer round, firehouse cooks, Claude Conde and Joaquin Ibarra for the salad/soup round, and Chef Shannon Overmiller from the Majestic Cafe for the entree round. Special thanks to the fierce competitors including, Alfredo Solis from Fuego Cocina y Tequileria, firehouse cooks, Bosephus Bennett, Brian Dobson, Tony Westfall, and Richard Slusher.

The night was emceed by Arlington’s illustrious Scott McCaffrey of the Sun Gazette, who was joined by guest speaker, Senator Barbara Favola, and judges: Grace Shea of Lebanese Taverna, Greg Hamilton of Arlington Magazine, and Todd Pozinsky of Carlyle.
