It’s Apple Season! Try These Desserts

The temptations go way beyond pie with apple-flavored ice cream, macarons and bellinis.

Cooling temperatures inspire a longing for treats flavored with that perennial fall staple: apples. Several orchards are well within driving distance of our area, but if you don’t have the time or the inclination to pick your own fruit and then figure out what to make with it, these local delights will satisfy your sweet tooth – at least until the pumpkin craving hits.

Bakeshop

Best known for its approximately 429 flavors of cupcakes (we’re kidding…sort of), Bakeshop works its magic in a tiny storefront on North Fillmore Street in Clarendon. And this Sunday begins the roll-out of its all-things-apple lineup: Cupcakes, apple-pecan loaves, apple pie with a crumbly top, and apple macarons. The cupcakes are frosted with vanilla buttercream, and the macarons are filled with apple butter.
