Something personal…

Horses really are part of the Preppy Pink Ponys story. Owner Virginia Kennedy – a licensed attorney who loves to sew – got her start selling belts and monogrammed ribbon saddle pads out of her Mercedes station wagon to girls at her daughter’s horse shows. Eventually, she upgraded to a tent, then to a brick-and-mortar shop in McLean, for which she now scours Etsy, Pinterest, and travels all around world – New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Hong Kong and, next year, Paris – to find the perfect products. Bestsellers include handmade jewelry by Catherine Canino, food items (popcorn, marshmallow snowmen, “Rudolph noses,” and chocolate soldiers) and, Kennedy says, fur scarves “you will want to sleep with they are so soft and luxurious.” Of course, monogrammed pieces featuring people’s names are also popular, which is why this Black Friday and Small Business Saturday Scout goods and custom cutout monogram necklaces will be 20% off. // 6829 Redmond Drive, McLean
