8 Indie Shops to Visit This Holiday Season

Find the perfect gift and support local small businesses in one fell swoop.

Something literary…

This past summer, you may have seen some rumblings in the local news about One More Page Books rent conundrum – the property taxes on its building shot up 30%, compelling the independent bookseller to either pay up or close up. Thankfully, the shop was able to avoid the latter due to the success of its silent auction, living to see another holiday season in its current space, where owner Eileen McGervey has a lot planned for Small Business Saturday. There will be a “Great Bookseller Bake-off” from 3-4 p.m., as well as a “Battle of the Books” in which staff favorites are sold at a discount and tallied to see whose favorite is a top seller. This year, One More Page is one more stop in the Arlington/Falls Church Small Business Saturday Shopping Passport program, through which shoppers gain “stamps” by visiting participating businesses and can be entered into a raffle. Note: books aren’t the only thing One More Page is selling. There are also “Novel Teas” for your favorite bibliophile to sip on, enamel pins to decorate their coat or backpack, and puzzles, too. // 2200 N. Westmoreland St., Arlington (East Falls Church)
