Halfies and “skinny dippers” at The Local Oyster

The first (and so far, only) Virginia outpost of this Baltimore-based seafood emporium serves up bivalves from its oyster farm on Maryland’s Western Shore. Try a “halfie” – a cup of soup and half a sandwich for $12. The pairing of sherry-based crab soup, garnished with chives, and fried oysters on a small bun is a satisfying fix. Alternately (or in addition to) you can down a half-dozen raw oysters ($12), which the restaurant calls “skinny dippers” and serves with cocktail and mignonette sauces, natch.
