Arlington came close to having its own MLB team on this side of the river, but no cigar. So today, as denizens of the greater D.C. region, we faithfully don Max Scherzer and Trea Turner jerseys, cheer for our favorite bobble-headed president and root for the Washington Nationals. It’s no secret that fans of the D.C. team are some of the most dedicated in the league; last week Nats Park sold out its April 5 home opener against the New York Mets for the third year in a row. Can’t make it to the park for every game? Happily, you’ll find plenty of local watering holes serving up happy hour specials during games and major drink deals when the Nats win big.  So whether you’re batting for Washington or just tagging along with baseball fans for some cheap thrills, these area sports bars are a home run.
1. First Down Sports Bar & Grill
Locally owned and operated since 2009, First Down Sports Bar & Grill in Ballston boasts more than 30 televisions. In addition to the happy hour menu and more than 40 flavors of wings, the venue offers $4.50 Fireball shots for every Nats home run. House wing specials can also coincide with Nats games—wings are $0.75 on Mondays and all-you-can-eat on Wednesdays.
