7 Places to Cool Off With a Chill Treat

Summer is too short not to eat ice cream, gelato and other refreshing desserts.

Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream

Don’t be deceived by the snug size of this Westover Village ice cream shop. Its flavor list is long enough— from “café au lait” to “ube” (made with purple yams)—to leave you gripped by indecision and forced to get a double scoop. But don’t go too big: Toby’s ice cream bears the coveted “super premium” label, which indicates both high quality ingredients and, in this case, at least 16 percent butterfat content. Toby’s was voted “best ice cream shop” in Arlington Magazine’s 2017 “Best of Arlington” issue. The shop also serves coffee drinks and is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. most weekdays.
