5 Indie Bookshops to Visit Now

If you need a new novel or a place to escape, head to one of these literary sweet spots and be reminded of the joys of reading.

Carpe Librum at The Alcove

It’s only open for a limited time (through the end of September), but if you’re a voracious reader, Rosslyn’s new pop-up retail hub, The Alcove, is worth a look-see. The whimsical space is anchored by Carpe Librum, a used book, CD and DVD shop, with items priced $1-$8, where you’ll find everything from contemporary fiction to kids’ picture books.  So stock up! Proceeds benefit Turning the Page, a D.C.-based nonprofit dedicated to ensuring all students have access to quality public education. The pop-up also hosts events such as family story time, makers workshops, game nights and more.

Located at the corner of 19th and Moore Streets, Arlington
