Delaplane Strawberry Festival

Where: Sky Meadows State Park, 11012 Edmonds Lane, Delaplane, Virginia

When: May 25-26, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

How about a road trip with the kids for some fun in the Virginia countryside? Now celebrating its 26th year, the annual festival in Delaplane features more than 10,000 pounds of strawberries (available by the flat or pint, or as part of a sundae, pie or funnel cake), plus live music, kids’ activities, hay rides, a 4H petting farm, raffles, food vendors, crafts and more. Rain or shine. $25 per car ($20 in advance).

Capturing the Wonder of Venice

Where: Gallery Underground, 2100 Crystal Drive, Arlington

Last October, a dozen artists spent a week painting in Venice, Italy, traveling the city and the surrounding islands to capture a different scene each day. This exhibit highlights their plein air works. Free.


 

A Misanthrope

WSC Avant Bard provides a fresh spin on Molière’s A Misanthrope, a comedy centering on a jaded character who falls in love with someone “who’s more than his match.” $10-$40.

The Talented Clementine

Where: Gunston Theatre One, 2700 S. Lang St., Arlington

When: May 31-June 9

In this Encore Stage and Studio musical based on the book by Sara Pennypacker, Clementine worries when she learns of her upcoming school talent show. With little stage talent, she’s determined to find something to perform. Recommended for agesa 6+. $12-$15.
