Assassins

Perhaps it’s only fitting that Signature Theatre begins its 30th anniversary season with its 30th Stephen Sondheim musical. The dark comedy Assassins explores several notorious presidential assassins (and attempted assassins), including John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald and John Hinckley Jr. $40+.
Dog Days of Summer

Falls Church Distillers continues its “Dog Days of Summer” twice this month with an outdoor barbecue including full restaurant and bar service. Pets are welcome. Free admission.
Arlington County Fair
Where: Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 3501 Second St. S., Arlington

Funnel cakes, Ferris wheels, pumpkin competitions, a parade, piglet races, pony rides and more greet visitors at the county fair, one of the largest free, annual events on the East Coast, with more than 84,000 visitors each year. Admission is free, but rides are ticketed.
