“Dashing Through the Snow”: A Virtual Holiday Concert

When: Dec. 19, 7 p.m.

Where: Online

Get in the holiday spirit with a performance by the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia and the Arlington Chorale.  For $10, you’ll receive a concert link that you can watch between Dec. 19-Dec. 26. Pay $20 to receive the same link, plus a downloadable version that you can replay time and again.

David Carlson: Flattening Time

When: Through Dec. 20

Where: Fred Schnider Gallery of Art, 888 N. Quincy St. #102, Arlington

Arlington artist and Marymount University adjunct art professor David Carlson is back at the Fred Schnider Gallery of Art (he staged the gallery’s very first show when it opened in May 2018) with a new collection of abstract art, this time inspired by the question “What is consciousness?” Call 703-405-1642 to book a private tour (appointments available Thursday-Sunday, noon-7 p.m). Only six people are allowed in the gallery at a time. Gallery admission is free.

Small Works, Great Joy!

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens normally attracts 75,000-80,000 visitors this time of year, so competition will be tight for the limited number of timed tickets available in 2020. Reservations with designated entry times will prevent crowding throughout the walkable half-mile outdoor light display, which will be open every evening—including holidays—through the end of the year. Tickets $8-$17.
