Tucked into a picturesque 721-acre campus in the Shenandoah Valley (and reportedly home to three of the largest chestnut trees in North America) JMU is just over a two-hour drive from both Richmond and Washington, D.C. The school ranked third on U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Regional Universities in the South. The Dukes compete in NCAA Division 1 sports, and enrollment is 19,923.
