Boasting several U.S. presidents among its alumni (others on that illustrious list include comedian Jon Stewart, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, actress Glenn Close and former FBI director James Comey), it’s the second-oldest institution of higher learning in the country, founded in 1693. Located at the edge of Colonial Williamsburg, the “quintessential public ivy” ranked 40th among the Top National Universities in the U.S. News & World Report list. In-state tuition is $22,922 ($46,283 out-of-state) and enrollment is 6,377.
