Home of the Monarchs, ODU was founded in 1930 as the Norfolk division of the College of William and Mary. Now an independent institution, it is #263 on U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best National Universities. More than 25 percent of the student body has a military affiliation, and the school’s Army ROTC and Hampton Roads Naval ROTC units are nationally ranked. Enrollment is 19,372 and in-state tuition is $11,212 (out-of-state $30,652).
