Go on a Treasure Hunt
Hesitant to buy clothes or jewelry for a mom who has her own unique sense of style? Not sure which books are currently on her nightstand already? Then plan some quality time with a mother-daughter shopping trip.
Begin with an outing to some of Northern Virginia’s coolest consignment shops. First stop? Current Boutique in Clarendon, where you never know when you might stumble on some rockin’ Jimmy Choos in your size, or a mint condition Dolce & Gabbana bag.
Swing by indie bookstore One More Page Books in East Falls Church for wine and chocolate (both of which pair nicely with literature) and a good read to take home. Bonus: the shop has signed copies of Jill Biden’s new memoir, Where the Light Enters.
If you love vintage stuff and you’re open to the idea of stretching Mother’s Day into Mother’s Month, mark your calendar for the Luckett’s Spring Market, taking place May 17-19 at the Clarke County Fairgrounds (890 West Main St.) in Berryville. This annual shabby-chic merchandise bonanza features scores of vintage vendors with one-of-a-kind home accessories, furnishings and decor. Plus live music, craft beer stands and food vendors.
