Raise a Glass
Drink a toast to the moms in your life. And hey, why not make a weekend of it?
Get a head start on Mother’s Day and stop by New District Brewing in Shirlington on Friday, May 10, for live music with The Walkaways from 6-8 pm and seasonal brews such as a Ginger Saison, Potomac Paddleboarder Blonde Ale, or Sour Sherbet, a pink-hued sour with berry notes.
On Saturday, May 11 from 4-6 p.m., Screwtop Wine Bar will be hosting a Yacht-Rockin’ Rose Party, with 20 fabulous dry rose wines for tasting (and for discounted purchase), nibbles of cheese and charcuterie and your favorite retro tunes (if we were betting folks, we’d put our money on some Captain and Tennille).
If spirits are more your jam, head out with Mom and try one of these tasty spring cocktails at your favorite local watering hole. (We can vouch for the strawberry-rhubarb margarita at True Food Kitchen. It’s tart and refreshing; not too sweet.) Or pick up a bottle of Falls Church Distillers’ lemon-verbena infused Great Falls Gin and mix up some French 75s at home.
