Founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819, this “public ivy,” known for its business, law, education, engineering and medical schools,was ranked 25th among top national universities by U.S. News & World Report. Tuition is $16,146 for 2018-19, and 16,331 students are enrolled. UVA is the alma mater of Arlington native/Yorktown High School grad Katie Couric.
