7. College of William and Mary
It’s the second-oldest institution of higher learning in the country, founded in 1693. Located at the edge of Colonial Williamsburg, the “quintessential public ivy” tied for the number 32 spot among top national universities in the U.S. News & World Report list, and ranked 7th for best undergraduate teaching. Among its graduates are three former U.S. presidents. Tuition is $20,287 for 2018-19 and enrollment is 6,276.
