Situated in the small southwestern Virginia town of Radford, the university is home to more than 8,800 students studying in more than 150 academic programs. RU competes in NCAA Division I athletics, and is tied for 47th among regional universities in the South according to U.S. News and World Report. In-state tuition for the 2016-2017 school year is just over $10,000 a year according to U.S. News.
