Crystal City FreshFarm Market

The South Arlington market features grass-fed meats, eggs, baked goods and organic produce, plus pasta and sauces from newcomer Open Hand Pasta and Provisions, based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Mexican paletas (ice pops) from Jarabe Gourmet Pops. This market also is a community compost collection point, meaning visitors can bring everything from corks to tea leaves to the FreshFarm tent for composting (see the full list of compostable materials here). FreshFarm has plans to open another market in Pentagon City this summer, though details have yet to be released.Â
Del Ray Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon, year-round
Where:Â 203 East Oxford Ave., Alexandria (Del Ray – Pat Miller Square, at the corner of Mt. Vernon and Oxford Avenues)
Discover more than 20 farmers and vendors at this year-round market in the center of neighborly Del Ray. Shoppers will find several bakery options, including products from local nonprofit Together We Bake, which offers workforce training and personal development for women.  New vendors include King Mushrooms—offering wild mushrooms, ramps and other foraged products from Maryland—Roots ‘n Shoots microgreens from Arlington, and Alexandria-based microwinery Woodlawn Press Winery.
Fairlington Farmers Market
When: Sundays, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., May 2-Nov. 21
Where: Fairlington Community Center, 3308 S. Stafford St., Arlington (Fairlington)
Spreading out across the patio of the Fairlington Community Center, this seasonal market opens May 2 with 20 or so vendors. The offerings include non-GMO fruits and vegetables from Pleitez Produce Farm in Montross; fresh pork products from Hog Haven Farm in Goochland County; beef from Sandy Bottom Acres in Maryland; and honey, cheese, produce and lamb from Faerie Springs Farm in Pennsylvania. This market also promises a variety of prepared foods, including plant-based fare from Sexy Vegie in Baltimore; coffee from D.C. roastery Cafe Los Suenos; and fresh mini doughnuts (a fan favorite) from Mama’s Donut Bites. Shoppers are reminded to follow the one-way signs from the entrance on S. Utah Street, and abide all Covid-19 safety protocols, including distancing between patrons and mandatory masks.
Falls Church Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 8 a.m. – noon, April-December (winter hours are 9 a.m. – noon, Jan.-March)
Where: 300 Park Ave., Falls Church (City Hall parking lot)
This year-round Saturday market in the heart of the Little City is one of the largest in the region. Pre-sales are an option for pickup, but visitors can also walk through the market as long as they maintain social distancing. New vendors in 2021 include two flower stalls—Bee’s Wing Farm and Grateful Gardeners—as well as Virginia-based vegetable purveyors Lydia’s Fields at Wheatland and Shenandoah Valley Produce. Visitors will find a variety of tempting take-home goods, from homemade dog treats, honey and sour pickles to smoked mozzarella, local wine and hot doughnuts.
