Wildfire Wine Dinner with Justin Vineyards

A five-course dinner from Justin Vineyards will be offered Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Wildfire in Tysons Galleria. The menu includes pan-seared sea scallops, braised short-rib Wellington and a chocolate ganache tart. A winery representative is the event’s guest speaker. Tickets are $100 per person.

AWLA Pints 4 Paws Beer Festival

Bring your pooch to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington’s Pints 4 Paws beer festival on Oct. 15 from 1-5 p.m. at Courthouse Plaza. The event includes unlimited craft beer tastings, food trucks and vendors offering pet-related goods and services. There’s also a costume contest for dogs. Tickets are $35 online, $40 the day of the event, and children under 12 are free. All proceeds go to the shelter.

Want to start a wine cellar but don’t know how? This class, on Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m., is for you. The folks at Screwtop insist that you don’t have to be wealthy to begin collecting wine. Among the topics: Which up-and-coming wine regions offer killer values for the money? Once I find some wines I like, how much should I buy? Tickets are $59.99 and include a tasting of six wines, plus cheese.
