7. Pupatella

Pupatella doesn’t take reservations, doesn’t deliver and has extremely limited parking, but that’s hardly kept the crowds at bay. The tiny Bluemont shop has been swamped ever since owner Enzo Algarme expanded his cult-status food truck into a brick-and-mortar operation in 2010.  Pupatella is the only pizzeria in Arlington to carry the coveted VPN certification for its pies, which are made in the Neapolitan tradition (Algarme originally hails from Naples).  Popular selections include the Margherita, made with imported Buffalo mozzarella; and the Mimosa, a white pizza topped with cream, prosciutto and roasted corn. The perfectly blistered pies take just a minute to cook in the restaurant’s oak-fired oven, though Pupatella also sells frozen pies that can be made at home. Soon it will open its first franchise location in Richmond.
