Whether you’re a freelancer, an entrepreneur, a tech-deprived soul on day two of a power outage, or simply seeking a place to chill and check your email, it’s always nice to have a go-to spot outside of the house where you can plant yourself and bang out some work. Here are a few comfort zones offering free wifi, tasty beverages, and concentration-inducing atmospheres that will make you wonder why you ever attempted to work from home. Just one caveat: Spacious some are not. The early bird often gets the best seat.

5852 Washington Blvd., Arlington
If you’re looking for a temporary workspace that feels like a bohemian living room, this Westover boutique will do you right with its sunny window seating, worldly art and even a resident dog to pet. A member of the nonprofit Fair Trade Federation, the shop sells fair trade goods from around the world. And this week it’s expected to reopen its beverage counter, serving fair-trade coffee and tea drinks. So prop yourself up with a throw pillow, sip on something warm and clear your head. You can even do a little shopping after your work is done.
