2. History and Tunes at Tinner Hill
Tinner Hill Park is where the first rural chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People – now known as the Fairfax NAACP – got its start 100 years ago. The Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation hosts several cultural events every year, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Day March for Unity on Jan. 15, and the annual Tinner Blues Festival. In 2018, the 25th annual blues fest will be held in Cherry Hill Park June 8-10, and will include an Interfaith Racial Reconciliation Service and gospel festival.
