10. Rockin’ Out at The State Theatre
Put on your jean jacket and get your side ponytail up! The 1980s tribute band The Legwarmers plays regular gigs at this old-school theater on North Washington Street, packing the house with costumed concertgoers who don’t need much encouragement to sing along to a set list that can include anything from Bon Jovi to Madonna. The State Theatre opened in 1936 as a movie house and transitioned to a music and event space in the late 1990s, hosting a variety of local and national bands. There’s even a VIP Sky Suite if you’re too shy to dance to “Beat It” in front of strangers. Hoping to score an autograph? Action Music across the street is reportedly a go-to for touring musicians who break a string and need a quick fix.
