Lansdowne Resort and Spa
The Loudoun County resort’s pools, spa, gym and golf facilities are all open, with added precautions. Pool time is allocated in two-hour blocks to allow for regular cleanings and family activities are mindful of social distancing, with options like movies on the golf course, bike riding, horseshoes and pickleball. Dogs up to 75 pounds are allowed in guest rooms for a fee. It’s easy to spread out and be active across at this sprawling property’s 570 acres. Guests can sign up in advance for time at the swimming pools and fitness center—complete with tennis and squash courts and a basketball court. (Face coverings and social distancing are required.) The newly opened golf course, designed by PGA star Davis Love III, has tee boxes for all ability levels, an 18-hole putting green, and offers Plexiglas dividers in some golf carts if you want an added layer of distance. Families can tap into daily activities like geocaching, stand-up paddle boarding, falconry, bike rentals and paintball. Massanutten
Summer outdoor activities at this 6,000-acre Virginia mountain resort include golf, mountain biking, zip-lining, tubing and horseback riding. Massanutten’s indoor water park remains closed, but the outdoor pools are open.
