Arlington Public Library
Arlington Public Library’s shiny new app debuted in April as part of the county’s ongoing push to integrate its public services into the mobile world. The app allows you to search book titles or reserve a meeting room remotely, and there are some nifty expanded features, too—like the ability to search the catalog by scanning the barcode on a book, and receive push alerts that warn of overdue books or fines. Plus, you can link multiple library-card accounts (a foolproof way to make sure that 10-page picture book your kid checked out doesn’t turn into a $10 library fee.) Interested in learning about library speakers, trending titles or new releases? The app features event and book guides that highlight each of the county’s eight permanent branches, as well as its temporary pop-up library—The Connection at Crystal City.
