Mega-retailer Target is planning to open a 41,500 square-foot store near Wilson Boulevard and North Glebe Road. Projected to open in 2021, the Ballston location will be the company’s fourth “small-format” store in the D.C. area and the second in Arlington (the other is in Rosslyn).
Anchoring a new mixed-use development from Saul Centers on the site of the former Rosenthal Mazda property, the store will offer groceries (including fresh produce), apparel, portable technology devices, health and beauty products, home décor, toys, sporting goods, baby care items and a CVS pharmacy.  Customers will also have the option of buying products online for pick-up at the store.
“I’m delighted to welcome Target’s expansion into the Ballston area of Arlington,” Delegate Patrick Hope said in a release. “Target has broken the mold with its retail stores specifically tailored to the uniqueness of the neighborhood. The addition of more grocery options and a quick pick-up services is the right fit for the Ballston neighborhood.”
