First date

The Dracula ballet at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. “I didn’t think I would be able to drag him to any other ballet,” Jessie says. “But I thought he would be willing to go to one about a vampire.”

The proposal

In the middle of a street in downtown Denver. He turned around abruptly and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ ” Jessie remembers. “I told him it wasn’t funny. It took me about five minutes [to realize he was serious].”

The ceremony

At the ceremony a Jewish circling ritual was performed which symbolizes breaking down barriers between the husband, wife and joining families. The bride also carried a prayer book that has been carried by every bride in the family for four generations, since 1907.
